When Is Eid Al Adha?

Eid Al Adha is set to take place on Saturday, July 9th, 2022. The Eid is four days long and will continue until July 13th, 2022.

What Is Eid Al Adha?

Al Adha translates to “feast of the sacrifice.”

Eid Al Adha commemorates prophet Ibrahim’s test from Allah swt. He was tried by God to sacrifice his own son Ismail on top of Mount Arafat. He obeyed, but from God’s mercy Ismail was protected. Instead a lamb was sent for sacrifice from God which is why the tradition of sacrificing lamb and feeding it to the poor continues today.

The Tradition of Wearing New Clothes on Eid Al Adha

Yes, Eid is an excuse to buy new Eid outfits, or four. We normally don’t support overconsumption here at AMEERA, but in the case of Eid wearing new clothes is tradition. It is a day celebrating our creator, so it is only fair that we dress our absolute best.

It is in fact a Sunnah to wear new clothes for Eid. If new isn’t the way to go anything fresh, and special will do.
